Lydia & David

Lydia and David were married this past June at Centennial Park in Munster. For a handful of personal reasons, their wedding remains very memorable for me.

When I met with Lydia last November to discuss her wedding flowers, she asked me to include a single pink rose in each of her bridesmaids’ bouquets. The roses were in memory of her aunt, whom she’d recently lost to breast cancer. I truly feel you can’t go wrong when incorporating memories of loved ones into your wedding and cherish the opportunities to make a bride’s day even more special with this kind of touch. For me, this one specifically hit home in a big way, as my sister-in-law had lost the same battle two short months earlier.

The other reason I recall this wedding so well is that I was eight months pregnant. As if that’s not enough going on, I booked 3 weddings for this June day! By the time I got to Lydia and David’s set-up (my last of the day), I was beat! My body hurt and I was ready to take a seat. Thankfully, I was able to do just that. My husband assisted me all day (I assigned him to all the heavy lifting), and my sister joined us at Centennial to help. The lake at Centennial Park is an amazing backdrop for a ceremony, and I love the aesthetic an arch adds. Lydia rented out my wooden arch, and I got to sit back and watch as my two assistants managed the assembly. Of course, the joy of adding the floral components to the arch got me right back on my feet!

The wedding, and entire day for that matter, went off without a hitch. A serious thank you to Kevin and Stephanie. I wouldn’t have made it through the day without them.

To Lydia and David, congratulations on your marriage. You were wonderful during the planning process. I’m so glad I could be a small part of making your day perfect.
